Rams Fall Just-Short Against No. 12 Shorter Hawks

MOBILE, Ala-- The 12th-ranked Shorter Hawks held off the University of Mobile 83-81 in Southern States Athletic Conference men's basketball action Saturday at Pharr Gym. Mobile (3-4, 1-3) visits Xavier Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 7:30 pm. Ji Kimbrough tallied a game-high 27 points for the Rams on 10-of-17 shooting, while Antonio Hester added 17 points and 9 rebounds and Brock Dockery finished with 15 points. Tyler Cole added 9 points off the bench on 3-of-4 shooting from 3-point range.

Hester Leads Rams Past Lee In SSAC Play

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile used a dominant performance from Antonio Hester to cruise past Lee University 70-52 in Southern States Athletic Conference action Friday. Mobile (3-3, 1-2) will host 12th-ranked Shorter Saturday at 5 pm. Hester finished the game with 31 points and 16 rebounds, including 9 offensive boards, while shooting 10-of-15 from the floor and hitting 11-of-12 free throws. Christian Salinas was the only other Ram in double figures with 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting.

Rams Fall To Barons In SSAC Play

MT. VERNON, Ga-- The Brewton-Parker College Barons defeated the University of Mobile 77-67 in SSAC men's basketball action Saturday evening. Mobile (2-3, 0-2) hosts Lee University Friday, Dec. 2 at 7:30 pm. Ji Kimbrough tallied 13 points to lead the team, while Brock Dockery added 12 points, Antonio Hester finished with 10 and Matthew Turner added a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Free Throws Doom UMobile Men At SPSU

MARIETTA, Ga-- Despite out shooting the Southern Poly Hornets 47% to 36% from the floor, the UMobile men's basketball team dropped the SSAC game 68-74 Friday evening. The Rams went 30-of-64 from the floor, compared to 26-of-72 for the Hornets, but Southern Poly held a decisive edge at the free throw line, hitting 15-of-24, compared to a 2-of-9 effort from the Rams.

Rams Hold First Half Lead, But Fall To Jags

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's basketball team built a first-half lead versus NCAA-I University of South Alabama, but fell 74-63 in the end. Mobile (2-1) will travel to Southern Poly Friday at 7:30 pm. The Jags cleaned up on the rebounds with a 46-24 advantage in the battle of the boards and held a large advantage from the charity stripe, hitting 29-of-36 compared to just 5-of-11 for Mobile.

No. 21 Gold Rush Hand Rams First Loss Of Season

MOBILE, Ala-- The 21st-ranked Xavier University-Louisiana Gold Rush defeated the University of Mobile 80-71 Monday at Pharr Gym in NAIA men's basketball action. Mobile (2-1) will visit University of South Alabama Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 7 pm for an exhibition contest. Xavier used balanced scoring and an edge at the free throw line to grab the win. They hit 28-of-37 from the charity stripe compared to 20-of-24 from Mobile, and all eleven Xavier players that dressed out, scored.

UMobile Men's Basketball Wins At SUNO

NEW ORLEANS, La-- The University of Mobile men's basketball team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 73-66 victory over Southern University at New Orleans Saturday evening. Mobile (2-0) will host Xavier Monday, Nov. 14 at 7:30 pm. The Rams shot 64% in the opening half to surge to a 42-24 lead before holding on for the seven-point victory.

Rams Open 2011-12 Season With Overtime Victory

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's basketball team opened the 2011-12 season by slipping by visiting Texas College 81-80 in a physical overtime contest. Mobile (1-0) will visit Southern University at New Orleans Saturday, Nov. 12 at a time to be determined. The Rams won despite going only 13-for-22 from the charity stripe, compared to 36-for-46 for the visiting Steers. Texas College shot 40% from the floor, while Mobile shot 42%, and the Rams forced 26 turnovers.

Mobile Men Fall By 4 At NCAA Div-I Nicholls State

THIBODAUX, La-- The University of Mobile men's basketball team started the 2011-12 season with a 69-73 exhibition loss at NCAA Div-I Nicholls State late Thursday evening. Nicholls out-shot Mobile 47% to 41% from the field and hit 7-of-19 3-pointers, compared to 3-of-14 for Mobile. Both teams hit 18 free throws in the contest, and turnovers offered no advantage either way. The Rams did control the boards, with a 46-32 advantage on the glass and a 13-6 advantage in offensive boards. Newcomer Antonio Hester grabbed a game-high 17 rebounds and added 12 points for the double-double.

Rams Picked 1st In Division In SSAC Men's Basketball Poll

Norcross, Ga. – The 2011-12 Southern States Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Poll has Shorter University as the favorite to win the East Division and the league championship while the University of Mobile was picked to win the West Division, the conference announced Tuesday.
