Mobile Men Fall At SSAC Tournament

MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The 15th-ranked Shorter University men's tennis team defeated the University of Mobile 9-0 at the 2011 SSAC Tournament Friday. Mobile (6-7) will now await word on the host bid for the 2011 NAIA Men's Tennis National Championship May 17-21 at the Mobile Tennis Center. The tandems of Guilherme Lorencon-Lucas Martins and Enzo Correa-Jesus Urmeneta battled but lost by 3-8 scores at the No. 1 and 2 doubles slots for the Rams.

Rams Ink Gautier Product

GAUTIER, Miss-- The University of Mobile men's tennis team announced the signing of Kyle Kirkpatrick. The son of Paul Kirkpatrick and Shannon Foster was a two-year member of the Gautier High School tennis team, serving as team captain during his senior year. Kirkpatrick, a Fellowship of Christian Athletes member, was also Doubles District Champion as a senior, and selected to be a page for the Mississippi House of Representatives under the Speaker Pro Tempore.

Rams Blast Wolfpack 8-1

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's tennis team rolled to an 8-1 conference victory over visiting Loyola University Saturday afternoon. Mobile (6-6) will now await the SSAC Tournament April 29-30 in Montgomery. The Rams cruised through doubles play to set the tempo for the day, getting an 8-3 win from the tandem of Enzo Correa and Jesus Urmeneta, an 8-2 win from Lucas Martins and Guilherme Lorencon, and an 8-1 win from Billy Musgrove and Clint Key.

Badgers Top Rams In Men's Tennis Action

MOBILE, Ala-- The Spring Hill College Badgers topped the University of Mobile 5-4 in men's tennis action Thursday at the University of Mobile. The Badgers grabbed a pair of doubles victories and then took No. 1, No. 5 and No. 6 singles to claim the win.  Jesus Urmeneta and Enzo Correa teamed up for Mobile's lone doubles victory, taking No. 1 doubles by an 8-5 margin. In singles play, Guilherme Lorencon won 6-1, 6-0, Correa won 6-1, 6-0 and Urmeneta won by default 3-6, 6-2, 3-0.

Mobile Men Fall To No. 19 William Carey University

MOBILE, Ala-- The 19th-ranked William Carey Crusaders defeated the University of Mobile 9-0 in SSAC West men's tennis action Tuesday at the University of Mobile. The Crusaders cruised through doubles play, allowing Mobile only two games, and then swept singles action. Guilherme Lorencon came the closest to grabbing a victory for the Rams at No. 2 singles, falling 5-7, 2-6. Mobile (5-5, 2-3) hosts rival Spring Hill Thursday, April 7 at 3 pm.

Mobile Men Split Two Matches Saturday

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's tennis team defeated Tougaloo College 9-0 after falling to division opponent Belhaven 1-6 to start Saturday. Mobile picked up three default wins against Tougaloo and rolled in the other matchups, never giving more than one game in any set. Guilherme Lorencon - Lucas Martins won 8-0, Jesus Urmeneta - Enzo Correa won 8-1 and Beau Bryars - Preston Smith won by default in doubles play.

Mobile Men Fall At NCAA I School

NEW ORLEANS, La-- It took a NCAA I squad to hand the University of Mobile men's tennis team its first loss of the season Saturday, as University of New Orleans defeated the University of Mobile 7-0. Mobile's No. 1 doubles tandem of Enzo Correa and Jesus Urmeneta fell 5-8 to Benjamin Bouhana and Hossam Meligy. UNO took the other two doubles spots by 8-1 and 8-2 scores.

Mobile Men Sweep Singles Play And Beat The Badgers

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's tennis team swept singles play to defeat SSAC West rival Spring Hill College 7-2 at the Mobile Tennis Center Wednesday. Mobile (2-0, 1-0) next plays March 11 at Loyola University at 4 pm. Spring Hill opened the match by taking a 2-1 lead after doubles action thanks to closely contested wins at the No. 2 and 3 spots.
