MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team fell 55-37 at NCAA-I Alabama State University in exhibition action Tuesday evening. Mobile (3-1) will visit Lee University Friday, Nov. 19 at 6 pm in Cleveland, Tenn. The Lady Rams were down only 27-21 after one half of play, but then shot 16% (5-31) in the final half, while the Lady Hornets pulled away. Mobile shot only 26% from the floor, compared to 32% for the Lady Hornets.

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team trounced Selma University 86-31 in non-conference action Saturday at Pharr Gym. Mobile (3-0) will next play Tuesday, Nov. 16 at Alabama State in exhibition action at 6 pm. The Lady Rams dominated in all areas and got double-digit scoring efforts from five players.

MOBILE, Ala-- Allison Michael's record-breaking night helped the University of Mobile women's basketball team overcome a poor showing from the free throw line to defeat Martin Methodist College 84-76 on the opening day of the University of Mobile Port City Tip-Off Classic. Mobile will wrap up play in the tournament Saturday at 5 pm by hosting Selma University. Michael scored 28 points, hitting 7-of-11 from 3-point range to set the school's single-game record of 3-pointers made. The old record was five, held by several players.

HATTIESBURG, Miss-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team fell 49-80 in an exhibition contest at NCAA-I University of Southern Mississippi Wednesday evening. Mobile got a standout performance from junior post player Alice Honnery, who finished with 18 points, 9 blocks, 8 rebounds and 5 steals. She shot 8-of-11 from the floor. The next best point producer for the Lady Rams was Crosby Morrison with 7 points off the bench.

JACKSON, Miss-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team opened the 2010-11 season by picking up a 68-60 road victory at non-conference foe Tougaloo College Monday. Newcomer Allison Michael led the Lady Rams with 15 points, while Alyssa Lane chipped in 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the floor. Alice Honnery picked up where she left off last season with 10 points, 17 rebounds and 5 blocks.

Norcross, Ga. - The Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC), which grew to sixteen member institutions on July 1, will add a new dimension in 2010, as the SSAC unveils its feature-based television show debuting on Wednesday, October 20 on SportSouth at 6 p.m. The “Southern States Showcase” will feature 18 thirty-minute weekly episodes on SportSouth (Fox regional sports network) reaching more than 10 million households. The show will air three times weekly across six southeastern states (Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee) beginning the week of October 18.

HATTIESBURG, Miss-- The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference announced the 2010 Thomas Howell Cup winner Tuesday and Belhaven University edged out the University of Mobile to win the coveted trophy for the first time in school history. The Thomas Howell Cup is awarded to the school with the highest number of points based on the order of finish in the various sports they participate in.
