Lady Rams Finish 13th At BSC Southern Shootout

BIRMINGHAM, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's golf team placed 13th at the BSC Southern Shootout Monday. The Lady Rams carded a 104-over 664 (336, 328) at the par-70, 5,801-yard Highland Park Golf Course. Fellow Southern States Athletic Conference member Lee University won the tournament with a 17-over 577 (289, 288), while Shorter came in 4th with a 43-over 603 (308, 295).

Mahoney Signs With Gateway Grizzlies

SAUGET, Ill-- Former University of Mobile baseball player Sam Mahoney became the 30th UMobile baseball player to sign a professional contract when he inked with the Gateway Grizzlies of the Frontier League. In his lone season with the Rams after transferring from Ohio University, the catcher hit .345, slugged .515 and drove in a team-leading 41 runs. He also posted a .454 on-base percentage and led the team with 14 doubles.

No. 4 Mobile Men Thump Brewton-Parker 10-0

MOBILE, Ala-- The 4th-ranked University of Mobile men's soccer team thumped visiting Brewton-Parker College 10-0 in Southern States Athletic Conference action Saturday. Mobile (10-1, 6-1) will host Belhaven University Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 7 pm. The Rams out shot the Barons 28-11 and put 15 shots on frame. Deshorn Brown stole the show for the Rams' offense, tallying half of the team's goals in the game, including four of Mobile's six first-half goals.

UMobile Volleyball Goes 1-1 On Final Day In Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball team went 1-1 on the final day of the Faulkner University Invitational Saturday to cap a 3-1 weekend. Mobile (14-10, 5-5) defeated Bryan College 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-14) and fell to Freed-Hardeman 2-3 (23-25, 25-23, 24-26, 25-20, 9-15) Saturday. Against Freed-Hardeman, Mobile had three players with double-digit kills. Kiara Gay led the way with a double-double of 18 kills and 18 digs, while Alison Kenney and Disah Kolassiba added 15 kills apiece.

UMobile Women Pick Up 11-0 Home Win

MOBILE, Ala-- The 9th-ranked University of Mobile women's soccer team blasted visiting conference foe Brewton-Parker 11-0 Saturday. The Lady Rams (10-2-1, 6-1) jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the opening half, including a pair of goals in the first 5:17. Kassie Ruff, Brianna Simmons and Christy Lachappelle each tallied a pair of goals for Mobile, while Melissa Maddox finished with one goal and two assists and Alyssa Fuller added one goal and one assist off the bench.

UMobile Women's Soccer Blanks Emmanuel 4-0

MOBILE, Ala-- The 9th-ranked University of Mobile women's soccer team blanked SSAC foe Emmanuel College 4-0 Friday afternoon at the University of Mobile. Mobile (9-2-1, 5-1) will host Brewton-Parker Saturday at 5 pm. The Lady Rams tallied a pair of goals in each period of play, and out shot the visiting Lady Lions 22-5, with Mobile taking 11 shots in each half.

4th-Ranked Rams Roll Past Emmanuel 4-0

MOBILE, Ala-- The 4th-ranked University of Mobile men's soccer team rolled past visiting Emmanuel College 4-0 in Southern States Athletic Conference action Friday. Mobile (9-1, 5-1) will host conference opponent Brewton-Parker Saturday at 7 pm. Deshorn Brown started the scoring for the Rams in the 11th minute when he took a feed from Gunnar Steindorsson, worked to the top of the 18-yard box and blasted a shot past the goalkeeper.

Lady Rams Hold Off Faulkner Eagles For 5-Set Win

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball team held on to defeat Faulkner University 3-2 (25-21, 22-25, 19-25, 25-20, 15-11) in Southern States Athletic Conference action Tuesday. Mobile (11-9, 5-5) will play in the Faulkner University Tournament this weekend, beginning Friday at 1:30 pm v. St. Thomas. Kiara Gay led the Lady Rams with 23 kills, and added 16 digs for the double-double. Disah Kolassiba finished with 14 kills and six blocks for Mobile, while Alison Kenney added 12 kills and 11 digs.

UMobile Women Finish NAIA Preview In 11th

GREENVILLE, Tenn-- The University of Mobile women's golf team finished in 11th place at the 2011 NAIA Women's Preview Tuesday. The two-day tournament was held at Link Hills Country Club's Par-73, 6,056-yard course. The Lady Rams fired a 95-over 679 (339, 340) for the 11th place finish, while Lee University won the tournament with a 33-over 617 (309, 308).

UMobile Women Score Early; Blast Brenau 5-1

GAINESVILLE, Ga-- The 8th-ranked University of Mobile women's soccer team blasted SSAC opponent Brenau 5-1 Monday in road action. Mobile (8-2-1, 4-1) next hosts Emmanuel College Friday, Oct. 7 at 4 pm. The Lady Rams were actually out shot 9-8 in the opening half, but Mobile put four of those eight shots in the goal.
