#25 Lady Rams Drop Game In Extra Innings

HATTIESBURG, Miss-- The University of Mobile dropped a 6-7 decision in 9 innings to Indiana University-Southeast Saturday. Mobile (1-1) will head to Montgomery for the Faulkner University Tournament this weekend and will open against Truett McConnell Friday at 4:30 pm. Haley Baker was tagged with the loss after allowing 2 earned runs on 2 hits in 3.1 innings of relief. Jenna Swain picked up the win for IUS with 3 innings of 1-hit, 1-run relief.

UMobile Softball Opens 2011 With Victory

HATTIESBURG, Miss-- The 25th-ranked University of Mobile softball team opened the 2011 season with an 8-4 victory over Southern Nazarene University. Victoria Buie went the distance to pick up the win, allowing 3 earned runs on 9 hits and fanning 10. Mayles Rodriguez and Holli McLeod each went 2-4 with 2 runs scored from the top two spots in the lineup, while Jessica Rogers went 2-4 with 2 RBI.

Senators Fight Off Rams 54-52 In Conference Action

MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's basketball team fell 54-52 at Auburn University-Montgomery in SSAC West action Saturday. Mobile (13-11, 6-3) sits in a tie for 1st in the SSAC West and will host Xavier Thursday, Feb. 17 in a non-conference battle at 7:30 pm. Brock Dockery led Mobile with 14 points and 9 rebounds on 6-of-9 shooting, while Matthew Turner added 12 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field.

Barber's Walk-Off Blast Salvages Split

MOBILE, Ala-- Cody Barber's walk-off 3-run home run in the bottom of the 7th in Saturday's finale gave Mobile a 4-3 win over Talladega College after dropping the opener 10-9 in 10 innings. Mobile (5-4) will visit Talladega for a 3-game series beginning with a 1 pm game Friday, Feb. 18. Tornadoes starter James Rodriguez had breezed through 6 innings of 2-hit, shutout ball before running into trouble with a 3-run lead in the final inning.

Lady Rams Outlast AUM In SSAC Play

MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team picked up a much-needed SSAC West victory Saturday afternoon, as the Lady Rams outlasted the Lady Senators of Auburn University-Montgomery 66-63. Mobile (13-9, 4-5) will next play Thursday when they host Xavier University at 5:30 pm in a non-conference tilt. Alice Honnery paced Mobile with 16 points on 7-of-8 shooting and added 8 boards and 7 blocks.

Rams Defeat Talladega 2-1 In 7 Innings

MOBILE, Ala-- Dominant pitching a pair of big plays in timely situations keyed the University of Mobile's 2-1 7-inning victory over visiting Talladega College Friday afternoon at the University of Mobile. Mobile (4-3) and Talladega (0-4) will finish the 3-game series with a 12 pm double header Saturday. Michael King (1-0) picked up the win after fanning 8 batters and allowing only 1 unearned run on 2 hits in 6 innings. John Ladnier worked a scoreless 7th for his 2nd save of the year.

Walker's Last-Second Bucket Keeps Rams In 1st

MOBILE, Ala-- Donte Walker played the role of hero Thursday night as the University of Mobile men's basketball team defeated Belhaven University 76-74 in SSAC West action at Pharr Gym. Mobile (13-10, 6-2) sits in the top spot in the division and will visit Auburn University-Montgomery Saturday at 4 pm. Belhaven falls to 14-12 and 4-4. The Rams never trailed in the final half and the game was only tied once, but that did not stop it from being a thrilling finish.

Jackson's Triple-Double Sinks Mobile Women In SSAC Play

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team fell 52-77 to Belhaven University in SSAC West action Thursday evening at Pharr Gym. The Lady Rams (12-9, 3-5) will visit Auburn University-Montgomery Saturday at 2 pm. Belhaven improves to 19-6 and 7-1 and sits in the top spot in the division. Adrienne Mackay was Mobile's lone double-digit scorer with 11 points and 9 rebounds off the bench, while Alice Honnery finished with 12 boards. Anna Maddox tallied 8 points on 4-of-8 shooting.

UMobile Women's Tennis Opens With Win

MARION, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's tennis team opened the 2011 season with a 7-2 road victory over Judson College Wednesday afternoon. The Lady Rams (1-0) next play Saturday, Feb. 19 at LSU-Shreveport at 10 am. Mobile opened with a 2-1 edge in doubles play as Claudia Borges-Cynthia Summersgill won 8-2 and Treya Smith-Samantha Parrott picked up an 8-0 victory.
