Donte Walker Named 2011 NAIA All-American

KANSAS CITY, Mo-- The University of Mobile's Donte Walker was named Honorable Mention NAIA Men's Basketball All-American Wednesday, as selected by the NAIA Men's Basketball Coaches' Association All-America Committee. The selections include a First, Second, Third and Honorable Mention Team. In 2010-11, Walker averaged 14.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.6 steals per game. The senior guard from Lake Charles, LA had season highs of 24 points, 14 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals.

Rams Finish Docuteam Invite In 4th

ADAIRSVILLE, Ga-- The University of Mobile men's golf team finished in 4th place at the Docuteam Invitational Tuesday at Barnsley Gardens Resort. Mobile fired a 3-round score of 73-over 937 (306, 330, 301) to finish 22 strokes behind tournament champ Shorter University, which finished +51 915 (305, 309, 301). The 301 each team shot in the final round was tied for the best score of the round.

Softball Rallies For 2 SSAC West Wins

MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The University of Mobile softball team swept a SSAC West doubleheader from Faulkner University Monday, winning the opener 8-4 in the 10th and taking the finale 8-7. Victoria Buie picked up the win in the opener with 3 innings of no-hit, shutout relief, while Faulkner's Katy Wiggins took the loss after surrendering 5 runs on 10 hits in 4.2 innings of relief. Haley Baker also worked in relief for Mobile and threw 5 innings of 1-hit, shutout ball.

Men's Golfers Sit In 4th After Two Rounds

ADAIRSVILLE, Ga-- The University of Mobile men's golf team sits in 4th place after two rounds of play at the Docuteam Invitational Monday. The final round at the Par-72, 6679-Yard Barnsley Gardens Resort course will take place Tuesday. Mobile fired a 60-over 636 (306, 330), while host school Shorter University leads the field with a 38-over 614 (305, 309).

Lady Rams Sweep #23 AUM In SSAC West Play

MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The 25th-ranked University of Mobile softball team swept No. 23 Auburn University-Montgomery by scores of 9-0 (6) and 5-2 to open up SSAC West play Sunday. In the 9-0 victory, Kamaron Strickland picked up the win by limiting the Lady Senators to 5 hits and striking out 3 in 6 shutout innings. Milagros Lozada led the way at the plate with a 3-4, 2 RBI, 2 run effort, while Erica Bracey finished 3-4 with 1 RBI and 1 run. Mayles Rodriguez finished 2-4 with 1 RBI and 1 run and Jessica Swanson finished 2-4 at the dish.

Mobile Splits With #12 Belhaven

JACKSON, Miss-- The University of Mobile baseball team split a SSAC West twin bill with 12th-ranked Belhaven University Saturday, taking the opener 5-4 and falling in the finale 7-5. Both contests were 7 innings. Mobile (19-10, 3-3) steps out of conference play to visit Concordia College-Selma for a pair of games Wednesday, Mar. 23 at 1 pm. Josh Blaylock picked up the complete-game victory in the opener in his first start of the season. The junior scattered 9 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 4 and allowing 3 earned runs.

Softball Wins Pair At WCU Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss-- The University of Mobile softball team picked up a pair of victories at the William Carey Invitational Friday, beating William Woods 2-0 and taking down LSU-Alexandria 5-1 in 6 innings. In the opener, Victoria Buie (11-3) dominated William Woods by striking out 11 hitters in a complete-game, 3-hit shutout effort. She walked none. MacKenzie Bowden took the loss after giving up 2 runs on 4 hits in 7 innings, while walking 2 and fanning 5.

Rams Drop 15-Inning Game To #12 Blazers

JACKSON, Miss-- The University of Mobile baseball team fell 1-0 in a 15-inning marathon game to 12th-ranked Belhaven University in SSAC West action Friday. Mobile (18-9, 2-2) and Belhaven (21-6, 3-1) finish up the 3-game series with a doubleheader Saturday at 1 at Smith-Wills Stadium. Josh Clarke picked up the win for the Blazers with 4 innings of 1-hit, shutout relief, while striking out 7 Ram hitters. Allen Johnson started for the Blazers and worked 11 innings of 6-hit, shutout ball. He fanned 10.

Baseball Rallies For 11-9 Win Over Visiting Eagles

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile baseball team rallied and then hung on to beat Oklahoma Wesleyan 11-9 in non-conference action Tuesday. Mobile (18-8, 2-1) visits Belhaven University for a 3-game SSAC West series beginning Friday at 6 pm. Cameron White got the win for Mobile with 1 scoreless inning of relief, while Zack Michel took the loss for OKW after giving up 6 runs on 6 hits in 1.2 innings of relief work.

2-1 Loss Knocks Lady Rams Out Of GCI

GULF SHORES, Ala-- The University of Mobile softball team fell 1-2 to McKendree University to fall out of the Silver Bracket Sunday on the final day of the Gulf Coast Invitational at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex. Mobile (16-6) will face William Woods at 6 pm and LSU-Alexandria at 8 pm Friday, Mar. 18 at William Carey. Victoria Buie was the tough-luck loser for Mobile after allowing 2 earned runs on only 3 hits in 6 innings of work. All three hits came from the top three in the McKendree lineup, while the 4-9 spots went a combined 0-14.
