No. 2 Flames Take Two From Mobile In Baseball DH

CLEVELAND, Tenn-- No. 2 Lee University defeated the University of Mobile baseball team 8-0 in a 7-inning game and 4-3 in the finale to take 2-of-3 in the NAIA series. Maxx Catapano got the win for the Flames in the opener by limiting Mobile to 1 hit in 7 shutout innings while striking out 8 Rams. Corey Fountain took the loss after giving up 6 runs on 6 hits in 3 innings.

Mobile Men Fall At NCAA I School

NEW ORLEANS, La-- It took a NCAA I squad to hand the University of Mobile men's tennis team its first loss of the season Saturday, as University of New Orleans defeated the University of Mobile 7-0. Mobile's No. 1 doubles tandem of Enzo Correa and Jesus Urmeneta fell 5-8 to Benjamin Bouhana and Hossam Meligy. UNO took the other two doubles spots by 8-1 and 8-2 scores.

Women's Tennis Falls At Univ. New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS, La-- The University of Mobile women's tennis team fell to NCAA I University of New Orleans 2-5 Saturday afternoon. The doubles tandem of Cynthia Summersgill and Nancy Machen picked upa default win at No. 3 doubles, while Kari Williams picked up a default win at the No. 5 singles spot. The other spots where Mobile came closest to picking up victories were No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles.

Lady Rams Drop Two On 2nd Day Of GCI

GULF SHORES, Ala-- The 25th-ranked University of Mobile softball team dropped a pair of games in pool play action at the Gulf Coast Invitational Saturday, falling to Lindsey Wilson 5-0 and dropping a 3-1 decision to Central Methodist University. Mobile (16-5) will participate in bracket play Sunday with time and opponent to be determined. All games are being played at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex.

Lady Rams Pick Up 9-0 Win In Conference Play

NEW ORLEANS, La-- The University of Mobile women's tennis team blanked Loyola University 9-0 in SSAC West action Friday. The Lady Rams (3-2, 1-1) return to action Saturday at University of New Orleans at 10 am. Claudia Borges-Kari Williams won 8-5 at No. 1 doubles, Nancy Machen-Cynthia Summersgill won 9-7 at No. 2 and Rachel Hartley-Treya Smith picked up an 8-0 victory at No. 3 doubles.

Rams Knock Off 2nd-Ranked Lee 10-7

CLEVELAND, Tenn-- The University of Mobile baseball team knocked off 2nd-ranked Lee University 10-7 in NAIA road action Friday evening. Mobile (17-6) and Lee (18-6) will finish the 3-game series with a noon doubleheader Saturday. Michael King (4-1) turned in a valiant effort on the mound to pick up the victory. King threw 128 pitches while working 8.2 innings. He struck out 8 and allowed 7 runs on 10 hits, though he had limited the Flames to 3 runs through 8 innings before being victimized by Travis Anderson's 3-run home run in the bottom of the 9th.

Mobile Softball Wins Pair In Pool Play Action

GULF SHORES, Ala-- The 25th-ranked University of Mobile softball team opened up pool play action at the 2011 Gulf Coast Invitational with a convincing 9-0 win over Cumberland Friday at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex and then capped the day with a 2-1 win over Oklahoma Baptist. Kamaron Strickland cruised through a complete game effort, fanning three and allowing only 4 hits in the shutout, while Mobile roughed up Cumberland starter Allison Blackwood for 5 runs on 7 hits in 3 innings.
