UMobile Hosts 2011 GCI Mar. 11-13 In Gulf Shores

GULF SHORES, Ala-- The University of Mobile softball program will host the Gulf Coast Invitational Mar. 11-13 at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex. The tournament will feature 28 teams from around the NAIA. Ranked teams in the field are #3 William Carey, #7 Lee, #9 Trevecca Nazarene, #10 Shorter, #18 Brenau, #19 Houston-Victoria, #20 Columbia College, #23 Auburn-Montgomery and #25 University of Mobile. Then, you look into the top 12 teams receiving votes and see participants Martin Methodist, Lindsey Wilson, Southern Nazarene and McKendree University.

Taylor Kirby Finishes 1st; Lady Rams Place 2nd

GULF SHORES, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's golf team finished 2nd at the Martin Methodist College Redhawk Spring Invite Tuesday. The tournament was held at the Peninsula Golf Resort's Par-72 5800 yard course. Mobile carded a 120-over 696 (341, 355), while Spring Hill won with a +108 684 (336, 348).

Men's Golf Finishes 2nd At MMC Tournament

GULF SHORES, Ala-- The University of Mobile finished in 2nd place at the Martin Methodist College Redhawk Spring Invite Tuesday. The Rams finished with a 40-over 616 (304, 312) to finish three strokes behind tournament champ Union University, who finished at 37-over 613 (299, 314). Mobile's 2nd round score was tied for the best score of the round.

UMobile Softball Bests #7 Lee In Extras

MOBILE, Ala-- The 25th-ranked University of Mobile softball team defeated 7th-ranked Lee University 4-3 in a 10-inning affair Tuesday. The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was canceled due to lightning. Victoria Buie went the distance to pick up the victory, striking out 15 Lady Flame batters and allowing 0 earned runs on 8 hits in 10 innings of work. Offensively, Mayles Rodriguez finished 3-4 with 3 RBI and a homerun.

Rams Pick Up Non-Conference Doubleheader Sweep

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile baseball team picked up a non-conference doubleheader sweep of Lyon College Tuesday, winning the opener 6-3 in 7, and taking the finale 4-3 in 8 innings. Mobile (16-6, 2-1) visits Lee University for a 3-game series this weekend, beginning with a 4 pm game on Friday.  In the opener, Chris Peacock picked up the victory by allowing only 1 earned run on 6 hits in 6 innings of work. The righty fanned 5 and walked 2.

UMobile Baseball To Play A DH Tuesday @ 12

MOBILE, Ala-- Due to expected rain in the Mobile area on Wednesday, the University of Mobile baseball team will play a 12 pm non-conference doubleheader at home against Lyon College on Tuesday. The teams were originally scheduled to play single games at 2 pm on Tuesday and Wednesday. Mobile sits at 14-6 on the season after taking 2-of-3 from rival Spring Hill College over the weekend.

Rams Finish Off Badgers 3-0 To Take 2-of-3

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile baseball team defeated Spring Hill College 3-0 in SSAC West action Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Rams took 2-of-3 in the series. Mobile (14-6, 2-1) hosts Lyon College for a 2pm non-conference contest Tuesday, Mar. 8. Jacob Knowles (4-1) picked up the win for the Rams by limiting the Badgers to 5 hits and 1 walk in 7 shutout innings. The freshman fanned 3. Josh Blaylock worked a scoreless 9th for the save. He threw 1-2-3 innings in the 1st, 4th, 5th and 6th innings.

Lady Rams Win Behind Buie's Near-Perfect Performance

MOBILE, Ala-- The 25th-ranked University of Mobile softball team used a near-perfect pitching performance from Victoria Buie to take down Reinhardt University 2-0 on the final day of the University of Mobile Classic Sunday. Buie (8-1) allowed only 1 baserunner in a complete game effort, which saw her fan 8 and walk none. The only blemish on her line came in the form of a seeing-eye single from Lindsey Booker to lead off the 7th. The ball skipped under Buie's glove and just out of the reach of a diving Jessica Rogers at second.
