No. 15 Lady Rams Down No. 17 Wildcats 3-1

MOBILE, Ala-- The 15th-ranked University of Mobile women's soccer team opened its 2011 home slate with a 3-1 victory over 17th-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University Friday evening. Mobile (3-1-1) has won three-straight contests and will host No. 5 Martin Methodist Saturday at 5 pm. The Lady Rams dominated possession and tempo, out-shooting the visitors 25-9 and finishing with a 6-0 edge in corner kicks taken.

Shorter Downs Mobile In SSAC Opener

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball team opened Southern States Athletic Conference play at the SSAC Cross-Over Tournament Friday and fell 0-3 (15-25, 16-25, 16-25) to Shorter University. The tournament continues Saturday, with all matches being held at Spring Hill. Mobile (5-5, 0-1) will battle Brewton-Parker at 10 am and Lee University at 4 pm. Shorter out hit Mobile .185 to -.019, and neither team did much from the service line, with only seven combined aces.

UMobile Men Sit In 6th After Opening Round

CLEVELAND, Miss-- The University of Mobile men's golf team sits in 6th place after one round of play at the Derrall Foreman Invitational Friday at the Cleveland Country Club. The Rams fired a 12-over 300, trailing leader North Alabama, who carded an even-par 288. Host Delta State sits in 3rd with a 3-over 291. Zach Day leads the Rams with a 1-under 71 to place him in a tie for 6th individually. Delta State's Grant Goforth leads everyone with a 4-under 68 after the opening 18 holes.

West Florida Tops Mobile In Volleyball Action

PENSACOLA, Fla-- The University of Mobile volleyball team fell 0-3 (12-25, 14-25, 14-25) at NCAA-II affiliate University of West Florida. Mobile (5-4) will next play at the SSAC Cross-Over Tournament at Spring Hill Friday-Saturday. The Lady Rams will battle Shorter University Friday, Sept. 16 at 5 pm. West Florida controlled the match, out-hitting the Lady Rams .367 to .024. Lisa Alms led Mobile with eight kills and a .375 attack percentage, while Kiara Gay added 7 kills.

Lady Rams Finish 2nd At Lagoon Park

MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's golf team opened the 2011-12 season by placing 2nd at the ASU Fall Golf Classic. Host Alabama State won the tournament at Lagoon Park with an 87-over 663 (332, 331), while the Rams shot a +101 677 (336, 341). Mobile tied with rival Spring Hill. Abbie Harris finished 5th overall with a 19-over 163 (81, 82) and Ann Nahl finished one spot behind her at 21-over 165 (82, 83).

UMobile Men's Golf Team Places 5th At ASU Fall Classic

MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's golf team placed 5th at the Alabama State University Fall Golf Classic at Lagoon Park Tuesday. The Rams carded a 46-over 622 (305, 317), while Alabama State won the tournament with a 16-over 592 (296, 296). Zach Day paced the Rams with a 6-over 150 (75, 75), good enough for a 7th-place tie. Erik Hilde won the tournament for Faulkner with a 1-over 145 (73, 72).

Three Rams Earn SSAC POW Honors

MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The University of Mobile was well-represented by the OnePath Systems SSAC Players of the Week selections for the week of Sept. 4-10. Eoin Dolan was named Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, Xavier Audergon was named Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week and Christy Lachappelle was tabbed as Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.

Lady Rams Sit Four Strokes Back After Opening Round

MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The UMobile women's golf team sits in second place after one day of play at the Alabama State University Fall Classic after carding a 48-over 336 at Lagoon Park. The Lady Rams sit only four strokes behind tournament leader Alabama State and six strokes ahead of rival Spring Hill College. Mobile has four of the top eight golfers in the individual standings after 18 holes of play, led by Abbie Harris, who shot a 9-over 81 to sit in 3rd for the tourney.

Ram Golfers Sit In 5th After Opening Round

The Rams carded a 17-over 305 on day one, while Faulkner leads everyone with a 4-over 292. Host Alabama State sits in second with an 8-over 296. Zach Day leads the Rams with a 3-over 75 and sits in a tie for 8th place on the individual leaderboard.

Ram Runners Place 3rd At Badger Brawl

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's cross country team finished in 3rd place at the 2011 Badger Brawl held at Municipal Park Saturday morning. Spring Hill won the 5K meet, with Huntingdon placing 2nd. Mobile finished 3rd with 69 total points and a time of 1:37:10. The Rams' top finisher was Mark Meadows, who clocked in at 18:15 to place 8th in the meet.
