Rams Drop Series Finale To 3rd-Ranked Flames

MOBILE, Ala-- The 3rd-ranked Lee University Flames finished off a sweep of the University of Mobile with an 8-4 victory in Sunday's series finale at Jacobs Field. Mobile (3-10) visits Thomas University Feb. 28 for a 2 pm doubleheader. Vince Spilker grabbed the win for the Flames by limiting Mobile to 2 earned runs on 4 hits in 5 innings of work. Corey Fountain was tagged with the loss after giving up 0 earned runs (6 unearned) on 5 hits in 2.2 innings.

Lady Rams Sweep Pair In Hattiesburg

HATTIESBURG, Miss.-- The University of Mobile softball team picked up a pair of non-conference victories in Hattiesburg Saturday, taking down Benedictine 14-6 and blanking Ottawa 5-0 in the finale. Mobile (6-0) will host Concordia Monday at 4 pm for a twinbill. In the opener, the Lady Rams out-slugged Benedictine to pick up the 14-6 win. Kamaron Strickland got the win for Mobile after giving up 6 runs on 10 hits in 4.1 innings of work. Mobile touched up Kayla McDonald for 11 runs (8 earned) on 8 hits in 3.1 innings.

UMobile Men Fall At Loyola; Will Be 4th Seed In SSAC Tourney

NEW ORLEANS, La-- The University of Mobile men's basketball team fell 55-62 at Loyola University in Southern States Athletic Conference action Saturday. Mobile (13-16, 9-9) will be the 4th seed from the SSAC West and play Brewton-Parker (9-20, 6-12) at 1 pm Wednesday, Feb. 29 in Rome, Ga., to begin the SSAC Tournament. Ji Kimbrough led the Rams with 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting, while Christian Salinas and Marcus Polnett each added 10 points for Mobile. Corey Gray led Loyola with 19 points.

UMobile Women Fall To #23 Loyola In Season Finale

NEW ORLEANS, La-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team dropped a 73-62 decision at 23rd-ranked Loyola University-New Orleans to close out the 2011-12 season Saturday afternoon. Alice Honnery totaled 20 points and 14 rebounds for Mobile, while Daphnee Frieson finished with 20 points and 9 boards. Morgan Melancon added 11 points for the Lady Rams. Keiva Council led the Wolfpack with 29 points, 9 boards and 8 assists, while Jasmine Brewer tallied 16 points.

No. 3 Lee Flames Sweep Twin Bill From Rams

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile baseball team dropped a conference doubleheader to 3rd-ranked Lee University Saturday, falling 3-0 in the 7-inning opener and being run-ruled 12-1 in the 7-inning finale. Mobile (3-9, 1-4) will host Lee (15-2, 5-0) for the final game of the series Sunday at 1 pm. Michael King was the tough-luck loser in the opener, giving up 3 runs on 8 hits in 7 innings of work, while Patrick Merkling picked up the win for Lee with 7 innings of 2-hit, shutout ball.

UMobile Softball Sweeps Home-Opening DH

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile softball team opened its 2012 home schedule by sweeping Talladega College by scores of 11-4 and 15-0 in a run-rule victory. Mobile (4-0) will play Benedictine Saturday at 12 at William Carey. Kamaron Strickland grabbed the win in the opener, going the distance, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits and fanning 6. Brittany Dunson went 3-for-4 with 3 runs scored from the leadoff spot, while Milagros Lozada went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI and Johnna Barnes finished 3-for-4 with 2 RBI.

Faulkner Rallies Past Rams In SSAC Action

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's basketball team fell 58-64 to Faulkner University Thursday in SSAC action at Pharr Gym. The Rams (13-15, 9-8) are 2nd in the SSAC West and will visit 1st place Loyola (18-9, 10-7) Saturday at 4 pm to close out the regular season. Christian Salinas hit 4-of-7 from 3-point range to score 12 points for the Rams, while Antonio Hester added 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks. Ji Kimbrough finished with 11 points for Mobile.

Lady Rams Drop Game To Lady Eagles

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team fell 59-91 to Faulkner University Thursday in SSAC action. Mobile (7-20, 4-13) will close out the season at Loyola University Saturday at 2 pm. Courtney Bayliss led Mobile with 16 points and 6 rebounds, Sharifa Chandler added 11 points and Daphnee Frieson added 10 points for Mobile. Christina Hayes led Faulkner with 21 points and 7 assists, while Brittney Carter added 17 points and 14 rebounds.

Rally Falls Short And Rams Fall 4-5 To UNO

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile baseball team's rally fell short Tuesday, as the team fell 4-5 to NCAA-II University of New Orleans. Mobile (3-7) hosts 3rd-ranked Lee University for a three-game series this weekend, beginning with a 2 pm contest Friday. For eight innings, the Rams' offense was held in check and UNO built a 5-0 lead. But, in the 9th Mobile finally got to the Privateer bullpen and put up four runs on four hits.

Ram Golfers Finish 8th At Webber Tournament

LAKE WALES, Fla-- The University of Mobile men's golf team finished 8th at the 8th Annual Start 2 Finish Monday at the 6,767-yard, Par-71 Lake Wales CC. The Rams shot a collective 89-over 941 (315, 318, 308), while WIU Green took home top honors at 19-over 871 (283, 301, 287).  Zach Day finished 22nd individually with a 16-over 229 (76, 77, 76) to lead the Rams.
