PENSACOLA, Fla-- The University of Mobile women's cross country team finished 12th at the 2012 Gulf Coast Cross Country Stampede Saturday morning. The Lady Rams finished with 329 points and a team time of 2:04:52 at the 5K meet. Emory won with 32 points and a time of 1:36:53.

PENSACOLA, Fla-- The University of Mobile men's cross country team finished 9th at the 2012 Gulf Coast Cross Country Stampede Saturday morning. The Rams turned in a time of 2:42:15 with 250 points, while Emory won with 46 points and a team time of 2:14:31.

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball team fell at home to SSAC foe Belhaven University 1-3 (13-25, 24-26, 26-24, 20-25). Mobile (12-5, 2-2) visits Tougaloo College Tuesday at 7 pm in non-conference action. Kiara Gay led Mobile with 16 kills and 16 digs, while Bailey Nations finished with 12 kills and Disah Kolassiba added 10 kills and a .333 hitting percentage.

GAINESVILLE, Ga-- The 6th-ranked University of Mobile women's soccer team used Christy Lachappelle's golden goal to take down SSAC opponent Brenau University 2-1 in overtime Friday. Mobile (5-2-1, 1-0) will visit 2nd-ranked Lee University (3-1) Saturday at 4 pm CST. Jenny Knibbs put the Golden Tigers up 1-0 with an unassisted goal in the 38th minute, and things stayed that way until the 70th minute, when Melissa Maddox sent a corner into the box, and Olivia Maddox was waiting to flick the ball past the goalkeeper to knot it up at 1-1.

MARIETTA, Ga-- The 14th-ranked University of Mobile men's soccer team fell 2-1 at 7th-ranked Southern Poly in Southern States Athletic Conference action Friday. The Rams managed only 1 shot on goal out of 3 shots, while Southern Poly put 10 of 22 shots on frame. The Hornets also finished with a 14-2 edge in corner kicks. The majority of the opening half went by with the teams scoreless before Alvaro Pichardo put the Rams ahead 1-0 in the 42nd minute, with Sam Blackburn picking up the assist.

MOBILE, Ala-- Former University of Mobile and St. Paul's Episcopal product Kyle McPherson made his first Major League start tonight for the Pittsburgh Pirates against the Milwaukee Brewers, giving up two runs on seven hits, with one walk and two strikeouts in 4.1 innings of work. McPherson made his big league debut Aug. 20 with two innings of one-hit, shutout relief against the San Diego Padres, and has gone on to post a 1.54 ERA in 11.2 innings of relief this season for the Pirates prior to Wednesday's start.

ST. SIMONS ISLE, Ga-- The University of Mobile women's golf team finished 3rd at the 2012 Coastal Georgia Fall Invitational. Mobile carded a two-round 92-over 668 (332, 336) at the Par-72 5,920 yard King & Prince Golf Course. Northwood University won the tournament with a 56-over 632 (314, 318) and Coastal Georgia placed 2nd at 76-over 652 (323, 329).

NEW ORLEANS, La-- The University of Mobile volleyball team defeated Xavier University 3-1 (21-25, 26-24, 25-15, 25-18) in non-conference action Tuesday evening. Mobile (12-4) returns to action Saturday at 1 pm when they host SSAC rival Belhaven University. Kiara Gay led the Lady Rams with 14 kills and added 10 digs for the double-double, while Sara Van Wert had 12 kills and hit .318. Cayce May led with 17 digs and Reagin Boggs set up 37 assists.

ST. SIMONS ISLE, Ga-- The University of Mobile women's golf team sits in 3rd place after one round of play at the Coastal Georgia Fall Invitational Monday at the King and Prince Golf Course. The Lady Rams fired a collective 44-over 332 to sit in the third spot with Tuesday's final round looming. Northwood is in 1st at 26-over 314 and fellow Southern States Athletic Conference member Coastal Georgia is in 2nd at 35-over 323.

ORANGE BEACH, Ala-- The 21st-ranked University of Mobile men's soccer team used a pair of second-half goals to rally past Embry-Riddle 2-1 Saturday evening at the Orange Beach Sportsplex. Mobile (4-1-1) will visit Southern Poly Sept. 21 at 2 pm in a Southern States Athletic Conference battle. Despite being out shot 22-14 for the game and 13-7 for the second half, the Rams held an 8-6 edge in shots on frame.
