THOMASVILLE, Ga-- The University of Mobile baseball team split a non-conference twinbill at Thomas University Wednesday, winning game one 8-5, and falling 3-4 in the finale in a pair of 7 inning games. Mobile (4-11) hosts Belhaven for a 3-game series this weekend, beginning with a single game Friday at 2 pm. Drew Esslinger grabbed the win for the Rams with 2 innings of 2-hit shutout relief in the opener.

MOBILE, Ala-- The Southern States Athletic Conference released the 2011-12 Men's Basketball All-Conference Team and awards Wednesday, and the Rams earned several awards. Antonio Hester was named SSAC Newcomer of the Year, and was joined on the All-Conference Team by Mobile, Ala., native Ji Kimbrough.

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team had several student-athletes honored with the release of the 2011-12 SSAC Women's Basketball All-Conference Teams and year-end awards Wednesday. Senior post player Alice Honnery was named SSAC Defensive Player of the Year, All-Conference and Musco Lighting Champion of Character. Honnery led the NAIA with 110 blocks and 3.93 blocks per contest, ranked 5th with a .577 field goal percentage and 9th with 10.9 rebounds per game. She also averaged a team-high 15.3 points, 2.6 assists and 1.2 steals per game.

LAGRANGE, Ga-- The University of Mobile women's tennis team cruised to a 6-0 win at LaGrange College Wednesday. Mobile (4-1) hosts Loyola University Saturday, Mar. 3 at 10 am. Tomita-Abrantes, Smith-Phillips and Summersgill-Kolakoski all won their doubles matches by an 8-1 score, and the Lady Rams cruised from there.

LAGRANGE, Ga-- The University of Mobile men's tennis team blanked LaGrange College 6-0 in non-conference action Wednesday. Mobile (3-0) hosts Loyola University Saturday at 10 am. The doubles teams of Paiva-Stonis, Correa-Marques and Tristao-Arcaro blanked each of their opponents to set the Rams up with a 3-0 lead.

ROME, Ga-- The University of Mobile men's basketball team defeated Brewton-Parker 58-55 Wednesday to advance to Thursday's quarterfinals at the 2012 Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament. Mobile (14-16) will battle 2nd-ranked Shorter University Thursday at 6 pm in the quarterfinals. Antonio Hester finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds for Mobile, Brock Dockery added 14 points on 4-of-5 shooting from 3-point range and Matthew Turner added 10 points on 5-of-5 shooting off the bench. Marcus Polnett and Ji Kimbrough each dished out 5 assists.

TUSKEGEE, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's tennis team rolled past NCAA-II Tuskegee University Tuesday evening. Mobile (2-0) visits LaGrange College Wednesday at 4 pm. The doubles tandems of Paiva-Stonis, Arcaro-Tristao and Correa-Marques put Mobile ahead 3-0, and the Rams put it away in singles action. The only close matches came at No. 2 singles with Karlis Stonis taking a 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 win and No. 3 singles where Lucas Tristao won 7-5, 6-3.

TUSKEGEE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's tennis team fell 4-5 to NCAA-II Tuskegee University Tuesday evening. Mobile (3-1) visits LaGrange College Wednesday, Feb. 29 at 4 pm. With the teams splitting the No. 1 and 3 doubles matches, the Golden Tigers nabbed a 9-8 (7-5) win at No. 2 singles to take the 2-1 lead heading to singles play.

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's golf team finished in 12th place at the 10th Annual USA Women's Invitational Tuesday. The tournament took place at the Par-72, 6071-yard Azalea City Golf Course. The Lady Rams carded a collective 101-over 677 (332, 345) to edge out the only other NAIA team in the field, Spring Hill, who finished with a +144 720 (359, 361).

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's golf team sits in a tie for 11th after one round of play at the 10th Annual USA Women's Invitational held at Azalea City Golf Club. Mobile shot a 44-over 332 in rainy conditions on day one, while South Alabama holds a two stroke lead for the top spot after carding a 16-over 304. Butler is in 2nd with an 18-over 306. Rival Spring Hill sits in 13th with a +71 359.
