Men's Golf Competes At Jim Redgate Invitational

MERIDIAN, Miss-- The University of Mobile men's golf team finished in 7th place at the Jim Redgate Invitational Tuesday. The tournament was hosted by Meridian Community College at the Briarwood Country Club's Par-72, 6928-yard course. The Rams carded a 55-over 919 (313, 305, 301) in the three-round event, while Wallace State CC won the tournament with an 11-over 875 (289, 293, 293).

Lady Rams Blank Loyola In SSAC Match

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball team blanked Southern States Athletic Conference rival Loyola University 3-0 (25-23, 26-24, 25-23) Tuesday evening at Pharr Gym. Mobile moves to 8-2 overall and 2-1 in conference action, and will travel to Dayton, Tenn., Friday, Oct. 1 for a 7 pm showdown with Bryan College. Senior Kelly Sherling paced the Lady Rams with 15 kills on an impressive .333 hitting percentage, while Alyson Kovacs added 9 kills and Christa Hicks finished with 8 kills and 13 digs.

Brown and Williams Honored By SSAC

MOBILE, Ala-- The Southern States Athletic Conference released the OnePath Systems SSAC Players of the Week Monday, and the University of Mobile swept the men's soccer awards. Deshorn Brown was named Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Jason Williams was tabbed as Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week as the Rams went 2-0 to improve to 6-1-1 on the season.

#14 Rams Rally Past Bethel Wildcats 2-1

ORANGE BEACH, Ala-- The 14th-ranked University of Mobile men's soccer team used a pair of second half goals to rally past 2008 NAIA National Champion Bethel University 2-1 Saturday evening in Orange Beach. Mobile (6-1-1) hosts Shorter University Friday, Oct. 1 at 7:30 pm. Bethel struck first on a goal from Armando Guell in the 6th minute, when Felix Obilo's long ball beat the Mobile defense, allowing Guell to get to it and punch it in, just ahead of the goalkeeper.

No. 23 Mobile Women Control Bethel 1-0

ORANGE BEACH, Ala-- The 23rd-ranked University Mobile women's soccer team dominated possession against Bethel University Saturday and walked away with a 1-0 victory in a physical game. Mobile (4-3-1) returns to action at home Friday, October 1 at 5 pm against Shorter University. In a game featuring 22 fouls and six cards, Mobile out shot Bethel 33-0 and finished with a 10-0 edge in shots on target, but Bethel goalkeeper Jessica Coates hauled in nine saves in the losing effort.

Mobile Volleyball Beats Stillman In Straight Sets

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball team won its 5th-straight match Saturday afternoon, defeating visiting Stillman College 3-0 (25-11, 25-13, 25-17). The Lady Rams (7-2, 1-1) will host Southern States Athletic conference rival Loyola University Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 7:30 pm. Mobile held the Lady Tigers to a .014 hitting percentage and hit .250 as a team. The Lady Rams also finished with 16 aces, led by six from setter Melody Tenney, who also led the team with 18 assists.

Mobile Men Run At Gulf Coast Stampede

PENSACOLA, Fla-- The University of Mobile men's cross country team turned in a 9th-place finish at the Gulf Coast Stampede Saturday morning at the Escambia County Equestrian Center. The Rams' top five runners turned in a combined time of 2:57:39 in the 8K run and accounted for 263 points, while the University of West Florida won the meet with a team time of 2:17:55 and 21 points.

Lady Rams Run In Pensacola

PENSACOLA, Fla-- The University of Mobile women's cross country team ran at the Gulf Coast Stampede Saturday morning at the Escambia County Equestrian Center. The Lady Rams had only four runners available and thus did not receive a team score. Joanna Canning finished 55th individually with a time of 22:50 in the 5K run to lead Mobile.

No. 14 Rams Keep Rolling; Beat Northwood 3-1

ORANGE BEACH, Ala-- The 14th-ranked University of Mobile men's soccer team downed Northwood University 3-1 at the Orange Beach Sportsplex Friday evening under the lights. The Rams dominated play, finishing with 21 shots, while Northwood did not get its first shot off until 54 minutes had gone off the clock. Mobile put seven shots on target, while the Knights put three on target. Jason Williams finished with two saves for Mobile, while David Etale made four saves for Northwood.

Volleyball Rolls Past Fisk

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball team won its 4th straight match Friday evening, defeating visiting Fisk University 3-0 (25-4, 25-4, 25-2). The Lady Rams (6-2) host Stillman College Saturday at 11 am at Pharr Gym in non-conference action. Mobile sizzled in every area, holding Fisk to a -.311 attack percentage and hitting .545 as a team.
