MOBILE, Ala-- The 5th-ranked University of Mobile men's soccer team blasted rival Spring Hill College 4-0 in the opening round of the 2011 SSAC Tournament Saturday.
Mobile (16-1-1, 10-1-1) will advance to the semifinals Thursday, Nov. 10 in Gulfport, Miss., with time and opponent to be determined.
Mobile took 26 shots in the game, putting eight on target, while the Badgers managed only three shots all game and put none on frame.
It took only 5:19 for Mobile to get on the scoreboard when Deshorn Brown banged home a rebound after Michael Azira's header was stopped.
Then, in the 27th minute, Mobile made it 2-0 when Marc Joseph headed home a cross from Brown.
It looked like it would stay 2-0 to the end, but Brown added two more tallies in the final minute, scoring at 89:17 and 89:38. The first came after a turnover by the Badgers' defense, and the second came on a feed from Stephen Okai that helped Brown beat the keeper.
Brown now has a NAIA leading 32 goals on the season.
