No. 3 Lady Rams Advance To SSAC Finals

GULFPORT, Miss-- The 3rd-ranked University of Mobile women's soccer team got a hat trick from Kassie Ruff Thursday evening to defeat Brenau University 3-0 in the semifinals of the SSAC Tournament.

Mobile (17-2-1) will face 2nd-ranked Lee University in the championship match Saturday at 2 pm at the Gulfport Sportsplex.

The Lady Rams' defense allowed Brenau only three shots all game, and Lorna Brownlie made a pair of saves in the shutout victory.

The Mobile attackers, meanwhile, took 14 shots and put five on goal.

The game was scoreless for the first 18 minutes until Ruff tallied her first goal at the 18:50 mark off of an assist from Brianna Simmons. Simmons then assisted Ruff just four minutes later, when Ruff put it inside the far post for a 2-0 lead.

The senior forward then capped the scoring in the 70th minute when she headed home a cross from Christy Lachappelle.
