DECATUR, Ala-- The 7th-seeded University of Mobile women's soccer team will be one of sixteen teams competing at the final site of the 2011 NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship Nov. 28 - Dec. 3 in Decatur, Ala.
The Lady Rams defeated UT-Brownsville in Saturday's Opening Round to improve to 18-3-1 on the year. Mobile will face Graceland (10-6-4), who toppled Concordia on penalty kicks after a 0-0 tie, Tuesday, Nov. 29 at 1:30 pm.
This is the second-straight season the Lady Rams have advanced to the Round of 16.
Thirteen of the Top-16 seeds remain in the tournament, and the winner of the Mobile - Graceland game will face No. 15 Hastings or No. 2 Azusa Pacific Wednesday at 1:30 pm.
Mobile is 13-1 over their last 14 games, with only a 0-2 loss to SSAC Champ Lee preventing a 14-0 stretch. Mobile's defense has allowed only seven goals in that stretch, while the offense has scored multiple goals in ten of the 14 games.
Graceland is led by Gisela Arrieta, who ranks 3rd in the NAIA with 27 goals and 1.35 goals per game. Daniela Gonzalez ranks 26th with 10 assists. They started the year with a 4-4-3 record, but are 6-2-1 over the last nine games, outscoring opponents 25-9 in that stretch. Graceland has only been shutout twice all year, and has scored multiple goals in 12 games. On the other hand, their defense has only 4 shutouts and has allowed multiple goals in 11 contests.
