Crusaders End Rams' Season At Nationals

ORANGE BEACH, Ala-- 13th-seed William Carey defeated 4th-seed University of Mobile 3-0 in the Round of 16 at the 2011 NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship Monday at the Orange Beach Sportsplex.
Mobile ends the season with a 16-3-1 record, while William Carey (15-3-3) advances to the Round of 8 Wednesday.
The Rams out shot William Carey 10-8 for the game and the teams battled to a 0-0 tie in the first half, before the Crusaders broke it open in the final period with three tallies.
The first two scores came on brilliant ball movement from William Carey. In the 59th minute, Francois Navarro scored from point-blank range after an entry pass from Luis Trude, and a cross from Johannes Forstpointer. Ten minutes later, Forstpointer and Trude did the same thing to set up Tyler Szura for the second goal of the game.
The final goal of the night came in the 79th minute, when Matheus Saroli dribbled past the Mobile defense and ripped a scorching shot inside the far post from about 24 yards out.
Xavier Audergon made two saves in goal for Mobile, while Carl Goody made four saves for the Crusaders in the shutout effort.
