Poor First Half Sinks Rams At Home Against SUNO

MOBILE, Ala-- A porous first half doomed the University of Mobile men's basketball team to a 65-73 loss at home to visiting SUNO Friday evening.
Mobile (5-7, 1-3) visits Southern Wesleyan Friday, Jan. 6 at a time to be announced.
Ji Kimbrough led Mobile with 21 points, while Antonio Hester finished with 13 points and 7 rebounds. Brock Dockery pulled in 8 boards for Mobile, while Cody Scott scored 9 points off the bench.
Kevin Dukes led four Knights in double figures with 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the charity stripe.
SUNO out shot Mobile 49% to 33% from the floor for the game and 77% to 65% from the free throw line.
In the opening half, the Knights built a 38-21 lead thanks to a 52% to 28% shooting advantage and 10 Mobile turnovers.
That opening half saw Mobile build an early 4-2 lead on a bucket from Kimbrough, but SUNO answered with a 22-9 run to grab a 24-13 lead with 8:25 left on a 3-point basket from Travous Williams. The Knights then closed out the half on a 9-1 run to take the 17-point lead into the break as Mobile missed their last six shots of the half.
In the second half, Mobile slowly worked the lead down to a 46-49 deficit on a free throw from Dockery with 10:19 remaining. SUNO answered with a 6-0 spurt thanks to three more Mobile misses. From there, Mobile could not get closer than seven points.
