Lady Rams Drop Conference Game On The Road

CENTRAL, S.C.-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team fell 66-81 Friday at SSAC East foe Southern Wesleyan.
Mobile (3-10, 2-3) visits Emmanuel College Saturday at 3 pm.
Alice Honnery led Mobile with 17 points and 6 rebounds, while Briana Edwards added 10 points off the bench for Mobile.
Janaye Gillard led four Lady Warriors in double figures with 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting, while Shyla Coleman added 11 points and 10 boards.
The game was a tale of two halves, as the Lady Rams built a 36-31 edge after the first 20 minutes of play, but then got outscored 50-30 in the final period.
Mobile actually out shot Southern Wesleyan 58% to 49% in the second half, but the Warriors finished with a 19-9 rebounding edge and a 10-0 edge in offensive boards. They also forced 15 Mobile turnovers. Gillard scored 17 of her 19 points in the second half.
The Lady Warriors started that second half on an 11-2 run to grab a 42-38 lead with 17:47 left on a putback from Gillard. Mobile grabbed the lead back at 43-42 on a bucket from Allison Michael, but over the next six minutes, the Lady Warriors outscored Mobile 15-3 to take an 11 point lead.
