Rams Hit Free Throws Late, Beat Southern Wesleyan

CENTRAL, S.C.-- The University of Mobile men's basketball team hit the road to pick up a conference win Friday, defeating Southern Wesleyan 69-62.

Mobile (6-7, 2-3) will visit Emmanuel College Saturday at 5 pm.

The Rams got a game-high 18 points from Brock Dockery on 6-of-12 shooting, 11 points from Ji Kimbrough and 10 points off the bench from Matthew Turner.

Nikola Lambic led Southern Wesleyan with 13 points and 8 rebounds.

Mobile out shot the Warriors 45% to 36% for the game and forced 24 turnovers, while being out shot 89% to 70% for the game.

In the opening half, Mobile was down 16-24 with 6:51 to play, but the Rams' defense clamped down and allowed only three more points to the Warriors the rest of the period to allow Mobile to take a 28-27 lead into the break.

After a Sebias Duck bucket gave Southern Wesleyan a 29-28 lead 25 seconds into the final half, Mobile answered with points from Antonio Hester to take the lead, and the Rams would never trail. Tied up at 35-35, Mobile reeled off nine-straight points, with Christian Salinas tallying five of those. Mobile kept a multi-possession lead until the Warriors cut it to 51-52 with 4:30 remaining. Turner answered with four points to push it back to a 56-51 lead. Over the final 1:40, Mobile finished 11-for-13 from the charity stripe to hang on for the win.
