Lady Rams Fall In SSAC Action At Faulkner

MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team fell 59-64 at Faulkner University in Southern States Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon.
Mobile (6-14, 4-7) will host Loyola University Thursday, Feb. 2 at 5:30 pm.
Daphnee Frieson led Mobile with 15 points, Alice Honnery added 14 points and 7 boards and Courtney Bayliss scored 10 off the bench.
Brittney Carter led the way for the Lady Eagles with 29 points on 11-of-18 shooting.
Faulkner finished 11-of-17 from the free throw line, compared to 6-of-15 for Mobile, and finished with 13 steals, compared to 3 for the Lady Rams.
Mobile started the game by taking a 9-2 lead, but Faulkner answered with a 17-2 run to take a 19-11 lead on a bucket from Carter. With 2:04 left in the first half, Briana Edwards brought Mobile within 26-25 and Faulkner took a 31-27 lead into the break.
In the second half, Faulkner pushed the lead to 48-39 with 12:46 remaining, when Mobile went on a 15-4 run over the next 6:33, capped by back-to-back buckets from Honnery to build a two-point advantage. Faulkner's Christina Hayes took the lead back for Faulkner with a 3-ball, and after Mobile tied it up at 59-59 with 3:21 to play, the Eagles finished the game on a 5-0 run to take the win.
