MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile opened the 2012 season by splitting a non-conference doubleheader with visiting Loyola University Tuesday, taking the opener 2-1 in 9 innings before falling 4-3 in the 7-inning finale.
Mobile (1-1) will host Talladega for a three-game series, beginning Friday at 2 pm.
The opener saw the Rams use five pitchers to pick up the win, with Shane Ikner working 1 inning of scoreless relief to pick up the victory. The staff fanned 12 Wolfpack hitters.
At the plate, Justin Beck finished 2-4 from the leadoff spot, while Ryan Parazine went 1-3 and scored a run.

Then, after Loyola left the bases juiced in the 8th, Mobile won it in the bottom of the 9th on a walkoff RBI-double down the left field line from Beck to plate Ryan Waltman.
