Rams Fall 3-9 At No. 2 Argos

PENSACOLA, Fla-- The University of Mobile baseball team fell 9-3 to NCAA-II 2nd-ranked University of West Florida Wednesday evening.

Dan Husum picked up the win for West Florida with 1 inning of 1-run relief. Ryan Hines took the loss after allowing 5 runs on 5 hits in 1 inning of work.

The UMobile offense managed only five hits in the game, and freshman first baseman Braxton Hamil had three of those after going 3-for-4 with 1 RBI and 1 run at the dish. Ryne Phillips finished 1-for-2 at the plate with two walks.

The Argo bats, meanwhile, pounded out 15 hits. Garret Flynn went 3-for-4, Leo Lamarche finished 2-for-2 and Taye Larry went 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored from the leadoff spot.

West Florida set the tone by scoring five runs in the bottom of the 1st, and then they tacked on single tallies in the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 7th innings. All five runs in the opening inning scored with two outs, started by a bases loaded walk and highlighted by a 2-run double from Lamarche.

The Rams' only offensive output came with two runs in the 5th and one in the 6th. The Rams scored with only one hit in the 5th, a leadoff single from Hamil. He touched home on a wild pitch, and Keith Granger drove in Ryan Waltman with a RBI-groundout. The 6th inning saw a Hamil RBI-double.

Mobile (2-4) will visit Spring Hill Friday at 4 pm.
