Lady Rams Fall 85-80 To Rival Badgers

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team fell 80-85 to rival Spring Hill College Saturday evening at Pharr Gym.
Mobile (7-19, 4-12) will host Faulkner Thursday, Feb. 23 at 5:30 pm.
Alice Honnery led the Lady Rams with 22 points, Daphnee Frieson added 16 points and 11 boards, and Lauren Bethly scored 11 for Mobile.
April Bradford and Kristin Rogers each finished with 19 points for Spring Hill.
Spring Hill shot 47% from the floor, compared to 45% for Mobile, and held a 67% (24-of-36) to 48% (14-of-29) edge from the free throw line.
The Badgers held an early 7-6 lead, but the Lady Rams answered with a 16-4 run to take an 11-point lead with 12:48 remaining in the opening half thanks to seven points from Bethly. Mobile built the lead up to 39-26 with 3:49 remaining, but the Badgers closed the half on a 14-4 run, capped by Bethany Collins' 3-pointer, to go into the break down only 43-40.
The Lady Rams started the final half by getting that lead back thanks to a 10-0 run. With the score 71-63 in favor of Mobile with 6:58 to play, the Badgers made their run, going on a 13-1 run over the next 3:39 to take a 76-72 lead. Mobile missed four field goals and three free throws in that stretch. Mobile cut it to 80-82 with 52 seconds remaining, and went to the free throw line looking to tie it up, but missed a pair. Down 83-80 with 12 seconds left, Mobile again had the ball, but was unable to inbound the ball in time and turned it over.
