UMobile Women Fall To #23 Loyola In Season Finale

NEW ORLEANS, La-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team dropped a 73-62 decision at 23rd-ranked Loyola University-New Orleans to close out the 2011-12 season Saturday afternoon.

Alice Honnery totaled 20 points and 14 rebounds for Mobile, while Daphnee Frieson finished with 20 points and 9 boards. Morgan Melancon added 11 points for the Lady Rams.

Keiva Council led the Wolfpack with 29 points, 9 boards and 8 assists, while Jasmine Brewer tallied 16 points.

Mobile turned the ball over 17 times, versus only 9 for loyola, and hit 3-of-14 from 3-point range, while the Wolfpack drained 11-of-30 from 3-point range.

The Lady Rams scored first on a Frieson bucket, and never trailed until Council hit a free throw with 9:52 remaining in the opening half to give Loyola a 16-15 lead. The teams traded leads from there, and Mobile went into the break trailing 30-25.

In the final half, the Lady Rams just could not erase that deficit. Two early Council 3-balls gave the Wolfpack a 36-29 lead with 17:16 to go. With Mobile trailing 43-53, the Wolfpack went on an 11-3 run to grab a 64-46 lead with 6:38 remaining.

Mobile ends the season 7-21 and 4-14 in conference play.
