UMobile Men Fall At Loyola; Will Be 4th Seed In SSAC Tourney

NEW ORLEANS, La-- The University of Mobile men's basketball team fell 55-62 at Loyola University in Southern States Athletic Conference action Saturday.
Mobile (13-16, 9-9) will be the 4th seed from the SSAC West and play Brewton-Parker (9-20, 6-12) at 1 pm Wednesday, Feb. 29 in Rome, Ga., to begin the SSAC Tournament.
Ji Kimbrough led the Rams with 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting, while Christian Salinas and Marcus Polnett each added 10 points for Mobile.
Corey Gray led Loyola with 19 points.
Loyola out shot Mobile 40% to 38% from the floor and held an 85% (17-of-20) to 69% (9-of-13) edge from the free throw line. The Wolfpack also held a 39-27 rebounding edge.
The opening half saw the teams trade leads until Mobile scored the last four points of the half to tie it at 36-36 heading into the break. Loyola had the largest lead of the half at 15-9, but the Rams scored six-straight to tie it up, thanks to four points from Antonio Hester.
The second half was controlled by Loyola. The Wolfpack opened the second half on a 9-0 run to grab a 45-36 lead at the 16:35 mark. At the 13:42 mark, Kimbrough scored to make it 40-48, but the Rams scored only 7 points over the next 10:58 as the Wolfpack built a commanding 60-47 lead with only minutes to play.
