MOBILE, Ala-- Jessica Palmer's pinch-hit RBI-double lifted the 22nd-ranked University of Mobile softball team to a 2-1 victory over Notre Dame College on day two of the UMobile Classic Tuesday.
Mobile (10-0) will host Campbellsville Wednesday at 6 pm to close out the tournament.
Kamaron Strickland went the distance to get the win for Mobile, limiting the Falcon hitters to 1 run on 5 hits, while walking none and striking out a pair.
Kaci Pribanic finished 1-for-2 with 1 run scored, Ally Scott went 1-for-3 with 1 RBI and Jessica Palmer finished 1-for-1 with the game-winning RBI.
Notre Dame started the scoring with a single tally in the 2nd thanks to a 2-out RBI hit from Jessica Bequette, and the score held up until the 4th, when Ally Scott ripped a 2-out RBI-double to left-center to knot the game at 1-1.
With the pitchers allowing only two hits over the next two innings, Mobile started the 7th with two quick outs, before a walk to Brittany Dunson turned the tide. Hannah Beth Baker followed with a hit-batsman, and then Palmer stepped up and ripped a shot to the wall to score Dunson and end the game.
