UMobile Baseball Sweeps Twin Bill From Scots

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile baseball team swept a pair of 7-inning contests from non-conference foe Lyon College by scores of 8-3 and 14-3 Wednesday afternoon.
Mobile (8-12, 3-6) will visit Southern States Athletic Conference foe William Carey for a 3-game series this weekend, beginning with a single game Friday at 6 pm.
Lefty Cole Vaughan went the distance to grab the win for Mobile in the opener, limiting the Scots to 1 earned run on 5 hits in 7 innings of work. He struck out 4 and walked none while throwing only 73 pitches.
Jacob Knowles finished 2-for-3 with a double, homer and 5 RBI. Braxton Hamil, Justin Beck and Brady King each added 2 hits for the Rams.
The Rams set the tone with with a pair of 2-run innings in the 1st and 2nd. Knowles smacked a 2-out, 2-run double to right-center in the 1st and Hamil delivered a 2-out, 2-run single in the 2nd.
In the final game, Knowles worked 6 innings, limiting Lyon to 1 unearned run on 3 hits, while fanning 5 to get the win.
Cameron White went 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI and Josh Blaylock finished 3-for-5 with 2 runs scored from the top of the lineup.
Mobile took command of the game with 6 runs on 6 hits in the 3rd inning. Hamil started the scoring with a sac fly, while Knowles added a RBI-double and White drove in a pair.
