No. 23 Lady Rams Drop Pair To No. 19 Warhawks

MOBILE, Ala-- The 23rd-ranked University of Mobile softball team dropped a SSAC twin bill to 19th-ranked Auburn University-Montgomery Sunday, falling 1-0 in the opener and dropping the finale 3-2 in 11 innings.

Mobile (17-6, 1-3) will host Columbia College Monday at 4 pm for a non-conference doubleheader.

Cassie Daniels out-dueled Kamaron Strickland to grab the win in the opener. Daniels went the distance, allowing no runs on 6 hits and fanning 4. Strickland took the loss despite giving up only 1 run on 5 hits in a complete-game effort.

Brittany Dunson and Milagros Lozada each produced two hits at the dish to lead Mobile. Mobile got baserunners on in every inning but the 4th and 7th, but stranded nine runners in the game.

AUM then scored the game-winner in the top of the 7th when a walk and sac bunt put Brandi Richards at 2nd with one out. She moved to 3rd on a single and scored on a grounder by Haley Johnson.

In the finale, Alli Hall took the loss after giving up 3 runs on 10 hits in 11 innings of work. The righty threw 171 pitches while striking out 6. Brandi Richards got the win in relief after twirling 7 3-hit shutout innings for the Warhawks.

Kaci Pribanic finished 2-for-4 and Ally Scott went 2-for-5 with a RBI-triple. Mobile left 11 runners on base in the game.

AUM struck first with single tallies in the 1st and 3rd innings, before Mobile's offense rallied. Scott's one-out RBI-triple plated Milagros Lozada for the first run, and then Scott scored on an illegal pitch to tie it up.

The Lady Rams stranded multiple runners in the 5th and 6th innings and the teams headed to the 11th tied at 2-2. Danielle Kirkpatrick singled home Johnson to put AUM ahead, and then the AUM defense did the job in the bottom of the inning, when a 6-3-5 double play erased the Lady Rams' runner at 2nd.
