UMobile Baseball Earns Split At No. 16 AUM

MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The University of Mobile baseball team split Saturday's twin bill at No. 16 Auburn University-Montgomery, taking the 7-inning opener 8-4 and falling 12-2 in an 8-inning finale.

Mobile (18-18, 10-10) and AUM (25-16, 14-6) will wrap the series with a single game Sunday at 1 pm.

In the opener, Josh Blaylock allowed 4 runs on 4 hits in the 1st inning, but settled down and allowed only 3 hits the rest of the way, holding the Warhawks scoreless over the final six innings. He struck out 4 and walked a pair.

At the plate, Ryan Waltman went 3-for-4 with a homer and 3 RBI, Brady King finished 2-for-4 with 1 RBI and Parker Hollinghead went 1-for-3 with 2 RBI.

After the Warhawks' big 1st, the Rams got right back in it with a 3-run 2nd inning, with all of the runs scoring with 2 outs. Hollinghead singled home a pair to start the scoring and King singled home Hollinghead to make it 4-3.

From there, the pitching staffs traded 0's until the final two innings when Mobile put up 2 in the 6th and 3 in the 7th. Ryan Parazine and Braxton Hamil had RBI-doubles in the 6th, while Waltman launched his 3-run homerun in the 7th.

Game two was all AUM. The Warhawks put up 12 runs on 19 hits, scoring in all but two innings and tallying multiple runs in four innings. Eleven different AUM players recorded at least one hit, nine different players scored a run and six players had multi-hit efforts at the plate.

Jorden Johnson and Logan Remson each put up three hits for AUM.

For Mobile, John Soutullo went 2-for-4, Ryne Phillips finished 2-for-3 and Ryan Parazine finished 1-for-3 with 2 RBI.

Cody Hall got the win for AUM by limiting Mobile to 2 runs on 6 hits in 8 innings of mound work while striking out 9 and walking none.

The Rams were down 6-0 before Parazine doubled home a pair in the top of the 6th inning.
