No. 6 Faulkner Eagles Sweep DH From Rams

MOBILE, Ala-- The 6th-ranked Faulkner University Eagles swept Saturday's SSAC baseball twin bill from the University of Mobile by scores of 3-1 and 4-2.

Mobile (19-22, 10-14) will visit Truett McConnell for a three-game conference series, beginning Friday, April 13 at 3 pm.

In the opener, Will Dismukes out-dueled Ryan Hines to pick up the complete-game win. Dismukes limited Mobile to one run on four hits in seven innings of work, while fanning six and walking one. Hines was tagged with the loss after giving up three runs on five hits in 6.1 innings of action. The lefty fanned five and walked three.

Faulkner did all of the scoring they needed in the 2nd, scoring a pair of runs with three hits. Daniel Cayton and Matt Darr went back-to-back with RBI-singles.

Ryan Waltman smoked a solo homer over the scoreboard in left field in the 2nd, but that was all of the offense Mobile could muster.

Cameron White finished 2-for-2, while Waltman finished 1-for-3 with the solo bomb.

The finale saw four Faulkner pitchers limit the Ram bats to a pair of runs on eight hits. Casey Wilson got the win with 2.2 innings of three-hit shutout relief. Blake Hanson took the loss after giving up three runs on six hits in six innings of action.

The Eagles took a 2-0 lead with a Brennan Olive RBI-single in the 1st and a Craig Massey RBI-double in the 3rd.

UMobile finally got on the board in the bottom of the 4th on a 2-out RBI-single from Justin Beck, but they left the bases loaded.

The Eagles then got the game-winner in the top of the 6th on a 2-out RBI-hit from Daniel Cayton, and an insurance run in the 8th. The Rams put two on in the 9th with a hit and a walk, but a double play ball ended the threat and the game.

Ryne Phillips went 3-for-4 at the dish with two runs scored, while Beck finished 2-for-4 with one RBI.
