No. 23 Lady Rams Sweep Visiting Blazers

MOBILE, Ala-- The 23rd-ranked University of Mobile softball team finished out its 2012 home slate by sweeping Belhaven University by 5-2 and 3-1 scores Friday.

Mobile (26-10, 8-7) will visit Spring Hill College April 17 for a 12 pm doubleheader.

In the opener, Mobile capitalized on a pair of late Belhaven miscues, scoring three runs in the 6th to go ahead 5-2. An out and error started the inning and then Korie Fontenot doubled to put runners at 2nd and 3rd. Ally Scott drove home the first run, and then an errant throw brought home two more.

Belhaven scored a pair in the 1st, but Mobile tied it up with single tallies in the 2nd and 5th. Brittany Dunson singled home Scott in the 5th to knot it at 2-2.

Kamaron Strickland scattered 10 hits in a complete-game effort, limiting Belhaven to two runs. At the plate, Scott finished 3-for-3 with 2 runs scored.

UMobile used some early Belhaven errors to take a 3-0 lead in the 1st inning of the final game, and that was all Alli Hall needed to pick up the win. The right hander struck out 10 Blazers in a complete-game effort, while limiting Belhaven to 1 run on 5 hits and walking a pair.

The Lady Rams recorded only two hits, one of which was a leadoff solo homer from Dunson in the 1st inning. She finished 1-for-2 with 1 RBI.

Following Dunson's long ball in the 1st, a pair of errors and walks plated two more Mobile runs.
