UMobile Women's Tennis Blanks Tougaloo

JACKSON, Miss-- The University of Mobile women's tennis team blanked Tougaloo College by scores of 9-0 and 7-0 in a pair of non-conference matches Friday. The teams played twice to make up for an earlier rain out.

Mobile (7-4, 1-3) will visit SSAC foe Belhaven Saturday at 1 pm.

In the opener, the Lady Rams picked up a pair of easy wins to start doubles, with a default win at No. 3, an 8-0 win by Treya Smith and Ambria Phillips, and then Tracy Cullum and Susan Berner finished off an 8-6 win at No. 2.

Singles action was equally lopsided in Mobile's favor. Noelle Dew had to rally for a 1-6, 6-2, 10-6 win at No. 3 singles, but Tougaloo managed more than one game won in one of the other eight completed sets.

The final match was much of the same, as Mobile picked up three doubles victories without having to play, and the team never looked back.
