Lady Ram Golfers Place 3rd At SSAC Championships

PASS CHRISTIAN, Miss-- The University of Mobile finished 3rd at the 2012 SSAC Women's Golf Championships Wednesday at The Oaks Golf Club's Par-72, 5,880-yard course.
Lee University won the two-round tournament and the automatic bid to the 2012 NAIA Women's Golf National Championships with a 38-over 614 (310, 304).
The Lady Rams finished two spots behind the Flames at 105-over 681 (343, 338), while Shorter placed 2nd at +75 651 (329, 322). UMobile finished 49 strokes ahead of the 5th-place Spring Hill College Badgers.
While Lee's Courtney Shelton paces all individual performers with a 6-over 150 (75, 75), Mobile's Abbie Harris finished in a two-way tie for 6th after firing a 16-over 160 (82, 78).
Alex Moore, Emily Blount and Ann Nahl each placed in the top-15 for the Lady Rams, with Moore and Blount carding 29-over 173's to tie for 13th overall. Moore shot an 87 and 86, while Blount carded an 83 and 90. Nahl finished 15th with a +31 175 (91, 84).
Kylee Schone rounded out the UMobile performers with a 39-over 183 (93, 90) to place 21st in the tournament field.
The Lady Rams have now placed 3rd or better in three of the last four tournaments and five of the last seven.
Lee and Shorter are ranked 2nd and 7th in the NAIA Top-25, while the Lady Rams are receiving votes.
The 20th Annual NAIA Women's Golf National Championships will be held May 15-18 at Link Hills Country Club in Greeneville, Tenn.
