Softball Players Earn SSAC Awards

MOBILE, Ala-- The Southern States Athletic Conference honored several University of Mobile student-athletes Thursday, with the release of the year-end softball awards.

Brittany Dunson was named to the All-Conference Team. Dunson, a junior from Pensacola, Fla., leads UMobile with a .342 batting average and .400 on base percentage. She has started all 44 games, scoring 25 runs, driving in 18 and hitting a team-leading seven doubles. She has struck out only six times on the year.

Alli Hall, a freshman from Pell City, Ala., was named to the All-Division Team and All-Freshman Team. In 24 appearances, Hall has an 11-6 record with a 1.53 ERA. She has fanned 83 in 114.1 innings and limited hitters to a .181 batting average against.

Players were also honored for their success away from the field. Emily Vickrey, a freshman from Atmore, Ala., was the team's Musco Lighting Champions of Character honoree.

Hannah Beth Baker, Dunson, Korie Fontenot, Jessica Palmer, Jessica Rogers, Jennifer Vachon and Kamaron Strickland were named to the All-Academic Team.

Baker is a sophomore from Auburn, Ala., Fontenot is a junior from Grand Bay, Ala., Palmer is a junior from Mobile, Ala., Rogers is a sophomore from Mobile, Ala., Vachon is a sophomore from Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., and Strickland is a junior from Enterprise, Ala.
