Rams Qualify For Men's Tennis National Championship

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile men's tennis team is makings its fifth-straight trip to the NAIA Men's Tennis National Championship, as announced by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Monday. The Rams earned the host berth.
Twenty-four teams will converge on the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center May 15-19. Bracket and pairings will be announced Tuesday. Twelve teams qualified by winning their conference tournaments, there were 10 at-large selections and Fresno Pacific qualified by winning the GSAC regular-season title.
The Rams (7-5) have won two National Championships (1993 and 1997). Auburn Montgomery leads the field with nine national titles.
Nine schools will be appearing at the National Championships for at least the 10th time in school history, led by the 13 trips made by both Azusa Pacific and Embry-Riddle (Fla.). Eighteen of the 24 qualifiers also made the field in 2011.
Asbury, Belhaven, Campbellsville, Spring Arbor and Warner are making their first trips to the tournament. The tournament is single-elimination. The top 12 teams earn byes and will await the winners of Tuesday's opening round matches.
