Pairings Released For 2012 NAIA Men's Tennis National Championship

MOBILE, Ala-- The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics released the pairings for the 2012 NAIA Men's Tennis National Championship Tuesday.
The University of Mobile's first round opponent will be No. 10 seed Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.). The Rams are the 23rd seed in the tournament. Opening round matches will take place May 15 at 1 pm. The tournament is being held at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center. All men's matches during the tourney will be at 1 pm, and the Championship will be May 19 at 2 pm.
Other opening round matches are: No. 16 Cumberland v. No. 17 Warner, No. 9 William Carey v. No. 24 Graceland, No. 12 Concordia v. No. 21 Asbury, No. 13 Aquinas v. No. 20 Spring Arbor, No. 14 Bethany v. No. 19 Olivet Nazarene, No. 11 Lindsey Wilson v. No. 22 Hastings and No. 15 Belhaven v. No. 18 Campbellsville.
The top eight seeds of the tournament are Fresno Pacific, Embry-Riddle, Oklahoma Christian, Azusa Pacific, Auburn Montgomery, Vanguard, Xavier and Westmont. Those teams receive byes and will play the winners of the opening round games.
The winner of Mobile and Point Loma will face No. 7 seed Xavier May 16.
Point Loma, a member of the Golden State Athletic Conference, is 12-10 on the season. The Sea Lions played 12 matches against NAIA Top-25 teams on the season, most recently dropping a pair to 7th-ranked Vanguard and their last match to No. 19 University of California San Diego.
The Rams are 7-5 on the season and 3-2 in their last five matches. They closed out the regular season by sweeping Spring Hill after losing a pair to Belhaven.
Point Loma knocked the Rams out of the first round in 2009 and 2010.
