GULF SHORES, Ala-- The University of Mobile softball team rolled past Texas Wesleyan 9-2 on the final day of pool play action Saturday at the 2012 NAIA Softball National Championship, but the win is not enough to extend the Lady Rams' season.
Mobile ends the year with a 31-19 overall record, while the winner of Southern Nazarene and Cal State San Marcos will be Pool B's representative in double-elimination bracket play May 21-23.
Kamaron Strickland got the win for Mobile, working 4 innings of one-run, three-hit ball, while Alli Hall worked 3 innings of one-run relief to pick up the save.
Emily Vickrey finished 3-for-4 with four RBI, Milagros Lozada went 2-for-4 with two RBI, Ally Scott finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Brittany Dunson recorded two hits from the leadoff spot for Mobile.
The game was scoreless through two innings before Mobile took control with two runs in the third and three in the fourth. Lozada singled home Vickrey and Hannah Beth Baker in the third, and Vickrey doubled home a pair in the fourth.
