Trio of Lady Rams Named Scholar Athletes

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile had three student-athletics named 2012 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes, as announced by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Tuesday.

Kamaron Strickland, Korie Fontenot and Jessica Palmer were honored for the Lady Rams. Strickland is a senior pitcher from Enterprise, Ala., Fontenot is a junior outfielder from Grand Bay, Ala., and Palmer is a junior first baseman from Mobile, Ala. The University of Mobile has had over 100 student-athletes honored as scholar athletes all-time.

The NAIA announced that 308 softball student-athletes earned the honor this year.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
