
MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball team swept a pair of matches on the final day of the Faulkner University Tournament Saturday, beating Southeastern 3-0 (27-25, 25-19, 25-17) and taking down Freed-Hardeman 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-16).
Mobile (9-3) hosts Loyola University Tuesday at 7:30 pm.
In the opening match, the Lady Rams blistered the ball to the tune of a .432 hitting percentage, with 50 kills and only 9 attack errors.
Kiara Gay led with 19 kills and added 12 digs, while hitting .484 and Bailey Nations added 13 kills and hit .444. Reagin Boggs finished with 45 assists and Courtney Fenwick led with 13 digs for the Lady Rams. Sara Van Wert added 8 kills and 4 blocks.
Down 23-21 in the opening set, the Lady Rams took six of the final eight points to pick up the win. Four different Lady Rams picked up kills in the stretch.
In the second set, the Lady Rams went on an early 9-2 run after falling behind 3-1 to take command. Van Wert and Gay both produced multiple kills in the run.
The final set win came thanks to a 5-0 run to close things out with Alicia Pena at the service line. Three kills by Nations and a pair of Fire errors keyed the run.
Against Freed-Hardeman, the Lady Rams hit .364 as a team and had 7 aces versus 4 errors.
Gay led with 16 kills and 15 digs, while Disah Kolassiba chipped in 10 kills while hitting .600. Boggs finished with 42 assists and Fenwick added 12 digs
Mobile took control of the first set with an opening 8-0 run with Boggs at the service line. Four Freed errors aided the run.
With the second set tied at 10-10, the Lady Rams went on a 10-1 run to take a commanding 20-11 lead. Nicole Armstrong was serving for seven of the points. Kolassiba had four kills in the surge.
Mobile then hit .452 in the final set to pick up the straight-set win.
