Lady Rams Win Pair Of 3-0 Non-Conference Matches

NEW ORLEANS, La-- The University of Mobile volleyball team traveled to New Orleans Wednesday to pick up a pair of non-conference victories. The Lady Rams started by downing Dillard 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-18) and finished with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-17) win over SUNO.
Mobile (18-8, 5-4) visits Brewton-Parker Friday, Oct. 12 at 6 pm.
UMobile out hit Dillard .366 to .097, led by 12 kills and a .556 hitting percentage from Bailey Nations. Kiara Gay added 11 kills and 9 digs and Tayler Houseknecht and Disah Kolassiba each finished with 8 kills for Mobile.
The opening set was tied at 13-13 before the Lady Rams used a 4-0 run and two 3-0 runs down the stretch to take the win.
In the second set, Kolassiba and Nations picked up two kills each in a 5-0 run to push it to 11-4, and then Leah Lovelace picked up a pair of aces during a 6-0 run to help finish it off.
The final set saw Mobile hold a slim 16-15 lead before the Lady Rams took 9 of the final 12 points. Nations and Kolassiba had three kills each in the spurt.
Against SUNO, the Lady Rams hit .385 as a team, with Sara Van Wert leading the way with 11 kills and a .611 hitting percentage. Kolassiba and Nations added 9 kills each, while Gay finished with 8 kills and 11 digs. Reagin Boggs had 39 assists in the match.
In the first set, Mobile had five runs of three or more, including a 4-0 and 3-0 run in the final nine points.
Mobile trailed 10-8 in the second set, but answered with a 4-0 run, and in the final set, the Rams used an early 5-0 and a late 4-0 run, started by a pair of Nations kills.
