Lachappelle Scores Four As Mobile Blasts SHC 4-0

MOBILE, Ala-- It was the Christy Lachappelle show Saturday afternoon as the 4th-ranked University of Mobile women's soccer team blasted rival Spring Hill College 4-0 in Southern States Athletic Conference action.

Mobile (14-3-1, 10-1) will host a SSAC Tournament first round game Saturday, Nov. 3 with time and opponent to be announced. The Lady Rams are the 2nd seed, behind top-ranked Lee University.

Lachappelle scored all four goals for the Lady Rams, with two in each half. The total is the second highest individual single-game total at UMobile, and highest since Terri McCreadie scored four in a game in 2008.

The two-time NAIA All-American opened the scoring in the 14th minute, when she knocked home a feed from Monique Martinez, and then closed out the half by hooking in a corner kick in the 39th minute for a 2-0 Mobile lead.

The second half was much of the same, with Jesslyn Fagundes feeding Lachappelle in the 61st minute, and then the final tally came on a penalty kick in the 77th minute.

While Lachappelle did the offensive damage, the Lady Rams' defense was stifling, limiting Spring Hill to only three shots overall and one shot on frame. Gillian McMahon finished with a one-save shutout for the Lady Rams.

Spring Hill did manage to lead in fouls and yellow cards.
