Lady Rams Drop Volleyball Match At Spring Hill


MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball team fell 1-3 (18-25, 16-25, 25-19, 19-25) at Spring Hill College Thursday evening to close out SSAC regular season action.

Mobile (23-11, 7-7) closes out the regular season at home Monday at 7:30 pm against Dillard. The Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament takes place in Montgomery, Ala., Nov. 9-10.

Kiara Gay led the Lady Rams with 15 kills and added 9 digs, while Bailey Nations finished with 12 kills and a .286 hitting percentage and Disah Kolassiba added 10 kills, 4 blocks and a .348 attack percentage. Sara Van Wert added 7 kills and 5 blocks, Reagin Boggs finished with 36 assists and 12 digs, Nicole Armstrong added 14 digs and Courtney Fenwick finished with 10 digs.

The Badgers out hit Mobile .246 to .125, both teams finished with 9 blocks, and Mobile held a 7-3 edge in service aces.

The Lady Rams led 16-13 in the opening set, but Spring Hill went on a 9-0 run, thanks to four kills from Megan Haber.

Mobile was never able to grab a lead in the second set, tying it at 4-4, but Spring Hill answered with an 8-1 run to take command, with four Mobile errors aiding the run.

The third set was all Mobile, as the Lady Rams only trailed briefly at 9-8, before a Gay kill and Lindsay Taylor ace gave the Lady Rams the lead for good. With things still close at 13-12, Mobile went on a 7-2 run to pull away, with Nations starting the surge with a couple of kills.

The final set was all square at 10-10, but the Badgers went on a 6-0 run, with five kills, including a pair from Haber.
