Lady Rams Drop Exhibition Game At Southern Mississippi

HATTIESBURG, Miss-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team fell 54-77 at NCAA-I University of Southern Mississippi in an exhibition contest.
Mobile was led by Deonica McCormick with 18 points, while Briana Edwards added 12 points and 9 rebounds and Leana Tajkov finished with 10 points. Tajkov went 5-of-9 from the floor, while McCormick was 6-of-7 from the charity stripe.
Southern Miss shot 46% from the floor and finished with 43 rebounds and 14 turnovers, while Mobile shot 33% from the floor, pulled down 45 rebounds and turned the ball over 24 times. The Golden Eagles also hit 7-of-20 from 3-point range, compared to 2-of-15 for Mobile.
The Golden Eagles scored the first bucket of the game, but Mobile answered with a 15-3 run to take a 15-5 lead with 13:27 to play on Edwards' layup. McCormick led the way with six points in the run. After taking the 15-5 lead, Mobile was held to only one point over the next 4:21 as USM bounced back to take a 19-16 lead. McCormick answered back to make it 19-18, but Southern went on a 7-0 run to make it 26-18 with 5:59 remaining. USM then held a 35-24 lead heading into the break.
USM then started the final half on a 12-2 run, capped by a three-point play from Tanecka Carey to take command.From there, Mobile could not get back within single digits to make a run.
