No. 13 SPSU Knocks Off No. 6 Rams In Semifinals

MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The 6th-ranked University of Mobile men's soccer team fell to 13th-ranked Southern Poly 1-0 in the SSAC Semifinals Thursday afternoon.

Mobile (14-4-1) receives a bid to the 2012 NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship due to winning the SSAC Regular Season Championship. Nationals will take place Nov. 26 - Dec. 1 in Montgomery, Ala.

The game was a defensive struggle, as both teams combined for only 12 shots and three shots on frame, with Mobile out-shooting Southern Poly 8-4 and holding a 2-1 edge in shots on target.

After the teams played a scoreless opening 45 minutes, where nobody managed a shot on goal, it was a penalty kick that proved to be the difference. Southern Poly's Adis Islamovic connected on the PK in the 65th minute.

Over the next five minutes, the Rams got some attack going and managed two shots on target, but the Hornets' Dennis Kramer stopped both.
