Lady Rams Move To 2-0 With 82-73 Win

MCKENZIE, Tenn-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team defeated Martin Methodist University 82-73 at the Rotary Classic Friday.
Mobile (2-0) will battle host Bethel University Saturday at 4 pm.
Deonica McCormick led the Lady Rams with 20 points on 7-of-15 shooting, while Shontae Dillon and Christy Roewe each added 12 points and Briana Edwards finished with 10 points and 8 boards.
Mobile out shot the RedHawks 49% to 35% from the floor, while Martin Methodist hit 7-of-19 from 3-point range, compared to 2-of-6 for the Lady Rams.
The key half, was the opening half when Mobile out shot Martin Methodist 51% to 38% on their way to building a 47-39 lead.
The RedHawks started hot, taking a 5-0 lead right off the bat, and holding that lead until Mobile used an 8-0 run to turn a 20-16 deficit into a 24-20 lead on a bucket from McCormick at the 10:50 mark. After Martin bounced back to take a 32-31 lead at the 5:43 mark on a 3-ball, the Lady Rams went on a 17-3 surge over the next 4:12 to build a 48-35 advantage on a score from Leana Tajkov. Mobile went 5-for-6 from the floor in the run.
Mobile maintained the lead for the rest of the game, leading by as much as 15 on three occasions in the final period.
