HAMMOND, La-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team dropped a 53-83 game at NCAA-I Southeastern Louisiana University Tuesday evening.
Mobile (2-2) hosts Brewton-Parker Friday, Nov. 16 at 5:30 pm in a conference battle.
Briana Edwards led Mobile with 13 points, while Deonica McCormick added 11 points and 9 boards.
Brandi Simmons led the Lions with 24 points and 19 boards, while shooting 10-of-14 from the floor.
The Lions dominated the boards 60-44, out shot Mobile 41% (30-74) to 32% (23-71) from the floor, 33% (7-21) to 20% (2-10) from the 3-point line and 57% (16-28) to 56% (5-9) from the charity stripe.
The opening half was actually back-and-forth early with Mobile grabbing a 10-7 lead at the 12:51 mark on a pair of free throws from Shontae Dillon, and then Edwards reclaiming the lead (20-18) at the 8:23 mark. But, over the next 3:14 the Lions went on a 17-1 run to claim a 35-21 lead. Southeastern controlled the boards with six offensive rebounds in the run. The Lions took a 46-27 lead into the break.
