MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's basketball team used a strong second half to take down visiting Brewton-Parker 64-43 in Southern States Athletic Conference action Friday evening.
Mobile (3-2, 1-0) hosts Brenau University Saturday at 3 pm.
Deonica McCormick led Mobile with 15 points, Briana Edwards added 11 points and 10 rebounds and Courtney Bayliss finished with 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting.
Courtney Clark led a pair of Lady Barons in double-digits with 12 points.
After trailing 26-25 after the opening half, the Lady Rams held Brewton-Parker to 11% shooting from the floor in the final period as they outscored the visitors 39-17.
The Lady Rams started the final half on a 21-2 run as Brewton went 0-for-11 from the field in the opening 7:28. Brewton did not reach double figures in the half until Clark hit a free throw at the 7:32 mark, and by that time, the Lady Rams had put up 29. Mobile led by as many as 21 in the half, and led by double-digits the final 14:18.
The opening half was more back-and-forth, with four ties and six lead changes. Mobile took a seven-point lead with a Molly Speed 3-ball at the 6:27 mark, but the Lady Barons finished the half on a 10-2 run to take the 26-25 lead into the break.
