Rams Drop Non-Conference Tilt At AUM

MONTGOMERY—Sam Judah had three hits and three RBI and Justin Williams added three hits and two RBI to lead Auburn Montgomery to a 9-5 win over the University of Mobile in non-conference college baseball action.
 

AUM committed four errors on the day and those four errors led to four unearned runs.  The errors started in the first inning as Derek Bourgeois scored on a Hunter Norris ground ball that was misplayed in the infield with two outs.
 

AUM came back to take the lead in the bottom of the inning as Judah and Williams picked up their first RBI of the game on singles. AUM added a single run in the second and two more in the third to push the lead to 5-1 as the two teams headed into the top of the fifth.
 

Aaron Elmore entered the game in relief of Robby Davis and the Rams Bourgeois led the inning off with a single and Brad Sheffield walked.  Norris then hit the first pitch he saw into centerfield driving in Bourgeois.  The Senators then committed two errors and allowed three more unearned runs to score before Elmore was able to get out of the inning with the score even at five.
 

The score stayed that way until the bottom of the sixth when Michael Dugan had a two-out single, followed by a Matt Arrighi single and a Chris Clements RBI single.  With Arrighi and Clements still on base, Judah drove a ball into the right field corner scoring two more runs and giving AUM a 8-5 lead, which was all Elmore needed.
 

AUM added one more run in the seventh and Elmore (1-1) went into the eighth inning picking up his first win of the year.  He allowed five hits and four runs, of which only one was earned.  Ben Francis finished the game for AUM only allowing one hit and striking out two.
 

Hunter had three hits and two RBI for Mobile and Bourgeois, Travis Williamson and Nick Laico all had two hits as Mobile finished the game with 12.

Arrighi, Alter and Dugan all finished with two hits as the Senators continue to hit the ball well.  AUM finished with 14 hits in the game.
 

AUM moves to 21-16 overall and Mobile is now 17-24.  The Senators have now won eight consecutive games and 12 of their last 14 games.  Mobile will host William Carey University for a 3-game series this weekend, beginning with a single game Friday at 2 pm.
