UM Men's Golf Finishes 2nd At GCAC Championships

HATTIESBURG, Miss-- The University of Mobile men's golf team finished 2nd at the 2010 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Championship and Jacob Morgan won the 2010 Individual GCAC Championship.

After Tuesday's opening round, the Rams and Spring Hill were tied for 1st after shooting a pair of 17-over 305's, but the Badgers carded a 10-over 298 Wednesday to win the tournament.

Mobile finished 35-over 611 (305, 306) and Spring Hill finished 1st at 27-over 603 (305, 298). William Carey finished 3rd with a 47-over 623 (316, 307).

Morgan played as an individual in the tournament and finished with a 3-over 147 (76, 71) to win top honors, edging out Spring Hill's Joseph Webster (4-over 148) and teammate Tyson Lynn (4-over 148 74, 74) by one stroke. Cameron Smith shot a 6-over 150 (75, 75) to join Morgan and Lynn as members of the 2010 GCAC All-Tournament Team.
 
Chris Collier rebounded from an opening-round 82 with a final-round 74 to finish at 12-over 156 and Leland Dunning shot a 13-over 157 (77, 80) for Mobile. Joey Moberly shot a 14-over 158 (79, 79) and Alejandro Salcedo carded a 15-over 159 (81, 78).
 
Mobile will compete at the NAIA Regional Qualifier April 19-20 at Bull Creek Golf Club in Columbus, Ga.
